Electric Ladyland

I recently stumbled upon an online shop holding EVERYTHING a girl could possible want! Jeans, jewelry, hand bags, tops… Electric Ladyland has it.

Now, as you may or may not know I am a huge fan of shopping for things online. Personally, I usually don’t have the time to spend four hours at the mall or take a train into New York City to browse shops (although I’ll take that any day over the mall!) So for me you see, Electric Ladyland is like a gold mine! Let me show you a few of my favorite pieces and more of what this very cute boutique has to offer:

clothing2.jpgI absolutely fell in love with this piece from VOOM – (Silk Red Cherries Head Scarf). I love silk scarves and especially as headbands and head coverings. Very boho.

clothing3.jpg
Next is this beautiful bracelet from Kenneth Jay Lane – (Turquoise And Coral On White Bracelet). It has a chic feel with a “folk” influence.

clothing4.jpgFinally is Stella & Jamie’ “White Puff Sleeve Trench Dress” which sports a very 50s feel. Personally, I love wearing dresses especially those with a 50s style woven in. They offer a sexy alternative with an extremely feminine and presentable look.

Electric Ladyland features many different and unique brands. These include Disney Couture, the famed True Religion jeans, and of course Juicy Couture. There’s lots to find, so go check them out!

50 Worst Musicians of All Time

vanilla_ice0.jpgBlender featured a story declaring the “The 50 Worst Artists in Music History.” Among the list were:
#47 GOO GOO DOLLS (”Mediocre band, woeful balladeers”)
#37 THE DOORS (”He was the Lizard King. No, really…”)
#36 98 DEGREES (”Well their mothers must love them”)
#23 CREED (”Whoever said the devil has all the best tunes was probably listening to Creed at the time”)
#15 YANNI (”Fabio meets Tesh!”)
#13 MICK JAGGER (”Even Bill Wyman laughs at Mick’s solo records”)
#11 LATOYA JACKSON (”The least talented Jackson”)
Some artists we ALL must agree were truly terrible included:

#8 VANILLA ICE (His real name is Robert Van Winkle *giggle giggle*)
The white boy to end all white boys

You know that yearbook photograph you won’t let anyone see? The one whose very existence keeps you awake shaking at night? Imagine it was a horribly dated number 1 single from 1990 called “Ice Ice Baby,” and you have an idea what life is like for Robert Van Winkle. It doesn’t stop there: Ice starred in the abysmal 1991 Hollywood vehicle Cool as Ice, and after squandering his quick fortune, mounted an unsuccessful comeback in 1998 as (shudder) a rap-rocker.

celinedion.jpg#26 CÉLINE DION
One more reason to hate the French?

Seemingly hellbent from birth on proving that Michael Bolton isn’t the cheesiest balladeer on the face of the planet, the French-Canadian singer first secured a manager at age 12 — creepily, she later married him. But far more terrifying is her endless string of shrieking über-hits, particularly the Titanic theme, “My Heart Will Go On” — which, if it had been played on the ship itself, would surely have made passengers leap to their doom long before the iceberg did its dastardly deed.

I have to say I agree with most points. And if you were wondering “Insane Clown Posse” made the top of the list. “They sound even stupider than they look.”

Disagree? Maybe Blender just doesn’t understand the true classics… or maybe you just like really really bad music.

The wrong woman crowned!

This video will be one of the most hilarious videos you will ever see… in your entire life. Alright, well maybe not ever, but surely for this week.

Take a look: It’s the Mrs. World competition in St. Petersburg Russia. An angel comes down from the sky, crowns the wrong woman, and chaos ensues!

Incase you were wondering, the contestants all ranged from 18-40 years old. From eXile:

In general, the Anglo-Americans tended to be homemakers, the Latinas were rocking the slutty housewife look, and the Slavic and Asian contingents were professional models.

Mrs. Russia, who is 18 years old, won the competition. She is married to Sergei Veremeenko, who is a former presidential candidate for the Republic of Bashkortostan, a bigwig in Russian Coal and onetime managing director of Russia’s fourth biggest bank, Mezhprombank. He’s ranked #82 on Oligarch.net’s Golden 100 ranking of rich Russians, worth $560 million, and has had numerous wives before… even two at the same time. There’s Russian big-wigs for ya’.

Barbie to Take Over World!

Barbie will take over the world! From Yahoo News

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Toy maker Mattel Inc, known for Barbie fashion dolls, is expanding the plastic icon’s domain to include high-end designer clothing and accessories for adult women.

Wow, I am absolutely excited for this. I’ve always wanted to look like my barbie. Do these clothes come with the barbie dreamhouse, car, and yacht? I sure hope so ;)

So the new label is going to be sold under the name “Barbie Luxe” and will include merchandise like jeans, shirts, handbags, and jewlery. Designers such as Anna Sui, Anya Hindmarch, Citizens of Humanity, Judith Leiber, Nickel, Not Rational, Paper Denim & Cloth, Stila and Tarina Tarantino have added Barbie-esque touches to their designs, such as pink stitching on jeans or a retro silhouette on a cameo pendant.

Mattel is launching the line exclusively at Fred Segal Flair in Santa Monica next week, and some designers will carry the merchandise in their own boutiques.

“Mattel is hoping that the clothing and accessories will catch on with trendsetting teens and women and that popularity will trickle down to Barbie the doll.”

“When a teen or 20-something is carrying an Anya Hindmarch, Barbie bag it’ll reinforce Barbie as relevant, cool brand for little girls,” said Dickson. “Little girls are growing up faster than ever and looking to adults and teens for inspiration, and Barbie is their aspiration.”

The items aren’t cheap, with jeans priced at $176 and a 3/4 sleeve hooded sweatshirt at $140, and this helps add to the cachet of the brand, which is designed to be “aspirational.”

eBay Fun!

I just got quite a few cute things from eBay… my favorite shopping companion. I’ve figured that I feel guilty now when I pay too much for something at a department store, and know I can get it online much, much cheaper. Well anyways, take a look:
A very cute skirt I got.
A very sexy “Indianish” skirt. I’m having a bit of trouble figuring out things to match it with though, but it has some silver sequins, so I picked up a silver scarf and I’ll probably get a silver bag.
and a very cute top!
A cutesey halter top! We’ll see if it matches the skirt or not :p But I DO have an excellent pair of shoes to match it, hahahaa and this skirt will go great:
and a sexy True Religion skirt!
… a True Religion jean skirt…. AMAZING! haha. A little pricey… ehhh, gotta get the designer jeans though!

I just got paid for finishing my dad’s company website, http://www.hoistdepot.com, so I figured it was a good time to shop.

I also added about 15 new songs to the radio blog, and got Photoshop CS 2! WooohooO!

Fashion of the 40’s

A classy 1940's lady!Glitz, glam, pearls and high heels. Cut out toes, and furs… 2004 is the 40’s. It is great to finally see the tacky “show as much skin as possible” look go out the window. Even Abercrombie is marketing new looks, and longer skirts! (Thank you!)

Fur coats, jackets and shawls have always given the look of a million bucks. Wear a fur piece, and you know you can walk with that extra little edge of classiness. What a throw in the face to PETA. I’m glad this radical group has the fashion world firing back at them. Maybe they’ll cry and ask where they went wrong. Additionally, it is really quite easy to get fake furs that look real. If you don’t want to spend the money on a genuine fox lined jacket, many department stores offer cheaper polyester “remakes” that look like the real thing. Of course when you touch it, it just will not feel the same.

An excellent broach to glam up an outfit!Pearls and extravagant jewels, why not wear your money on your neck like the cosmopolitan ladies of the 40’s? Pull out your grandma’s old costume jewelry and broaches, they’re all too back in style! Glam up a simple corduroy jacket with 4 completely different broaches on the fold of your collar. ‘Cut out toe’ shoes with high heels are quite trendy, along with the ‘pointy-toe’ look. Classy shoes make any outfit look glamorous… almost.

Remember: This look is definitely not about the brand names! The more exclusive and unique your clothing items get, the classier you will look. If you have got money flaunt it, but work with what you have got! Stray away from blatantly designer wear. (Your brown Louis Vuitton bag!) And throw out those trashy UGG boots and wear real shoes… the kind that created the saying, “Beauty is pain!”

M-K gone Bag Lady

Mary Kate bag lady.Mary-Kate Olsen would like to call her style funky, I like to call it bag lady. Hey, it takes a lot of money to look like shit… oh, and Mary-Kate’s sister [Ashley] is dating a near 30 year-old that owns a “too chic for you” restaurant in NYC, entitled Butter. Yum.

In other news, my power is out. Oh the joy of having your town tell you it won’t be back on until 7! Seven o’clock damnit! My laptop battery is near running out… I’ll just have to remedy this horrible situation with shopping in a well lit mall.

AND! This website has finally gotten around to spam bots. Oh the joy of having random internet robots posting porn and poker advertisements in the comments of your entries. Yay.
